ORDINANCE 98-13 |
AN ORDINANCE TO REDIRECT $70,000 FROM OTHER CAPITAL PROJECTS
TO THE HOMER HIGH SCHOOL POOL FILTER SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the Homer High School pool filter system is in need of
immediate repair; and
WHEREAS, a delay of repair will ultimately result in health problems;
and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of improvements will be $70,000.00; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 96-11 appropriated $69,000 to the Homer Jr. High
School track resurfacing project and $60,000 to the Port Graham School metal siding
project; and
WHEREAS, a cost savings of $44,000.00 could be attained by resealing
the Homer Jr. High School track in lieu of a complete resurfacing; and
WHEREAS, a cost savings of $26,000.00 could be attained by sand
blasting and repainting the exterior of the Port Graham School in lieu of installing metal
siding; and
WHEREAS, hearing on shortened time is needed due to the short
construction season and ten week time needed for obtaining parts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH:
SECTION 1. That the cost savings of the Homer Jr. High School track
and the Port Graham School siding project be combined; and
SECTION 2. That the total savings of $70,000 be redirected to the
Homer High School pool filter system replacement project and appropriated to account
