KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH
ORDINANCE 98-17
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES
FOR FISCAL YEAR 1998-99
WHEREAS, the Assembly is required by Alaska Statute 14.14.060� to
make an appropriation for the local share of funding for the school budget by June 30; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 98-027 approved a total school budget of
$84,059,605 and established that up to $30,314,010 ($23,216,885 local effort, $5,922,125
in-kind services, and $1,175,000 co-curricular funding outside of the local contribution)
be provided from local sources for school purposes; and
WHEREAS, due to the passage of Senate Bill 36, the Assembly will make
available for school purposes from local sources the amount of $29,139,010;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH:
SECTION 1. That subject to the provisions of this ordinance, the
following is appropriated to the school fund from local sources for school operations
purposes and in-kind services for the year July 1, 1998 through June 30, 1999:
A. Local Effort $23,216,885
B. Borough Maintenance 4,900,717
C. School District Utilities 43,892
D. Insurance 881,749
E. Audit 25,000
F. Custodial Services 70,767
Local Contribution per AS 14.17.025 $29,139,010
Total Local Sources $29,139,010
SECTION 2. That disbursements from the direct appropriation in Section
1, item (A), shall be made only as needed to supplement other revenues available and
received by the school district to fund the operations portion of the school district
budget.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on
July 1, 1998.
