ORDINANCE 98-18 |
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING RECEIPT OF A GRANT FROM THE ALASKA
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND REGIONAL AFFAIRS FOR RENOVATIONS OF THE MOOSE PASS COMMUNITY
CENTER, AND APPROPRIATING THE GRANT AWARD AMOUNT PLUS MATCHING CONTRIBUTIONS
WHEREAS, through adoption of KPB Resolution 97-083, the Mayor was
authorized to submit a cooperative application to the Alaska Department of Community and
Regional Affairs ("DCRA") for a grant up to $200,000 under the Community
Development Block Grant Program ("CDBG") for funding renovations to the Moose
Pass Community Center in Moose Pass; and
WHEREAS, notification has been received from DCRA that the Borough has
been awarded a grant under the CDBG program; and
WHEREAS, since it is desirable to complete renovations of the
community center during the 1998 construction season a shortened hearing date is requested
for this ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Moose Pass Sportsmen's Club ("MPSC") has agreed
to provide all matching cash or in-kind contributions necessary for grant award and
compliance and will reserve these matching funds until the project is completed; and
WHEREAS, upon completion of the project, MPSC will have sole
responsibility for operation and maintenance of the community center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to execute a grant agreement
and related documents in order to accept CDBG funds in an amount up to $125,900 for
renovations of the community center in Moose Pass.
SECTION 2. That any matching requirements will be satisfied through
cash or in-kind contributions from the Moose Pass Sportsmen's Club, a non-profit
corporation organized under the laws of Alaska and recognized by the Internal Revenue
Service as a tax exempt organization.
SECTION 3. That the amount of the grant award, not to exceed $125,900,
plus any amounts received from MPSC are hereby appropriated to fund 271.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance takes effect immediately upon its
enactment.
