KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $70,000 IN SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FROM THE ANCHOR POINT FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE AREA OPERATING FUND BALANCE TO THE ANCHOR POINT FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE AREA OPERATING BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000 FOR UNPLANNED MAINTENANCE COSTS AND TO THE ANCHOR POINT FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $55,000 TO HELP FUND THE PURCHASE OF A NEW AMBULANCE
WHEREAS, the service area has incurred unexpected maintenance and repair operating costs on its ambulances and buildings in excess of the amount budgeted for FY 2000; and
WHEREAS, in the absence of a supplemental appropriation, undue stress on the remainder of the operating budget may hamper the service area's ability to provide quality service; and
WHEREAS, the reliability of the ambulances currently in service places the emergency care of patients at risk; and
WHEREAS, purchase of a new ambulance was previously planned for FY 2001; however, escalating maintenance costs and reliability issues support accelerating the purchase to FY 2000; and
WHEREAS, a total of $65,000 previously appropriated for capital improvement projects is available for reappropriation; and
WHEREAS, the Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area operating fund balance has sufficient funds to support this appropriation; and
WHEREAS, the Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area Board has requested this supplemental appropriation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH:
SECTION 1. That $15,000 is appropriated from the Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area Operating Fund Balance to the following FY 2000 operating accounts: 209.51410.00000.42422 in the amount of $7,000; 209.51410.00000.43011 in the amount of $5,000; and 209.51410.00000.48210 in the amount of $3,000.
SECTION 2. That $55,000 is appropriated from the Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area Operating Fund Balance to the FY 2000 capital improvement project account 444.51410.00ANC.49999, for the purchase of an ambulance.
SECTION 3. That $35,000 previously appropriated for a pumper truck and $30,000 previously appropriated for land purchase is reappropriated to the FY 2000 capital improvement project account 444.51410.00ANC.49999, for the ambulance purchase.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its enactment.
