KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH
ORDINANCE 2000-16
AN ORDINANCE DELETING THE SUNSET CLAUSE OF ORDINANCE 97-73, WHICH ESTABLISHED A FLAT TAX FOR WATERCRAFT, CREATED A $100,000 PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION, AND INCREASED THE MOTOR VEHICLE TAX
WHEREAS, on December 16, 1997, the assembly enacted Ordinance 97-73 which revised the tax code to establish a flat tax for watercraft, created a $100,000 personal property tax exemption, and increased the motor vehicle tax; and
WHEREAS, Section 9 of that ordinance provided that it would sunset on December 31, 2001, unless extended beyond that date by ordinance; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance has generally been well received by borough taxpayers, it has simplified administration of the personal property tax, and it appears to be in the best interest of the borough to eliminate the sunset clause;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH:
SECTION 1. That the sunset clause contained in Section 9 of Ordinance 97-73 is hereby deleted.
SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH ON THIS 18TH DAY OF APRIL, 2000.
