                        Members, Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly

THRU:           John J. Williams, Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor

FROM:          Terry Eubank, Controller

DATE:           July 20, 2006

SUBJECT:    Ordinance 2006-19-12, appropriating funds for purchase and installation of a fire station generator for Kachemak Emergency Service Area

During FY2006, Kachemak Emergency Service Area (KESA) received a grant from the Department of Homeland Security for the purchase and installation of a fire station generator and purchase of portable VHF radios. This grant was accepted and appropriated by Ordinance 2005-19-32 (Mayor) Substitute.

In the time after appropriation, the service area board has determined additional funds will be necessary to complete the purchase and installation of the generator. The total cost of this project including the generator purchase and installation, and VHF radio purchase, is now expected to be $57,825.

The service area has sufficient funds in its capital fund balance to support this request. It is requested that the assembly approve a supplemental capital budget appropriation in the amount of $22,925 to complete this project.

Hearing on shortened time is requested to allow work to be completed during this year’s construction season.
