Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area (“Service Area”) has been awarded a $2,200 grant under the 2006 Rural Fire Assistance (“RFA”) grant program. The U.S. Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, administers these federal funds.

Grant funds may be used for equipment purchases or training. The RFA grant program requires a 10 percent match. Expenditures for fire fighting equipment or training made by the Service Area during the 2006 calendar year are eligible costs under both grant programs. The Service Area has sufficient funds in its current operating budget to meet the matching requirements.

The grant program requires that the grant funds and matching funds be spent before December 31, 2006. Therefore, a shortened public hearing date of September 19, 2006, is requested.
