A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THE AMOUNT THAT WILL BE PROVIDED FROM LOCAL SOURCES FOR SCHOOL PURPOSES FOR FISCAL YEAR 1998-99

WHEREAS, The school board submitted their budget to the Assembly on April 21, 1998 for approval of the total budget; and

WHEREAS, the school district has requested additional local funding outside of the maximum local contribution determined through AS 14.17.025; and

WHEREAS, within 30 days of receipt of the budget, the Assembly must determine the total amount of money to be made available from local sources for school purposes and must furnish to the school board a statement of the sum to be made available; and

WHEREAS, the Assembly is required by law to appropriate the money for school purposes on or before June 30.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH:

SECTION 1. That the Borough Assembly approves a total education budget for the fiscal year July 1, 1998 through June 30, 1999 as follows:

A. School District Operations $78,137,381

B. Borough Maintenance 4,900,717

C. School District Utilities 43,892

D. Insurance 881,749

E. Audit 25,000

F. Custodial Services 70,767

Total Education Budget $84,059,605

Note: Item (A) is budgeted and controlled by the Board of Education. Items (B) through (F) are budgeted and controlled by the Assembly as in-kind services.

SECTION 2. That $30,314,010 shall be made available from local sources to fund school district operations and co-curricular activities in fiscal year 1998-99, as follows:

A. Local Effort $23,216,885

B. Borough Maintenance 4,900,717

C. School District Utilities 43,892

D. Insurance 881,749

E. Audit 25,000

F. Custodial Services 70,767

Local Contribution per AS 14.17.025 $29,139,010

G. Co-curricular Funding Outside of the

Local Contribution 1,175,000

Total Local Sources $30,314,010

SECTION 3. That an ordinance appropriating funds specified in Section 2 items (A) through (G) will be enacted prior to June 30, 1998.

SECTION 4. That a copy of this resolution will be sent to the President of the Board of Education upon its adoption.

SECTION 5. That this resolution takes effect immediately upon its adoption.
