  SUBJECT:     Resolution 2006-067, authorizing award of contract for summer and winter road maintenance in Central Region, Unit 3, for the Road Service Area

 

The Kenai Peninsula Borough opened a proposal for the above referenced project on July 12, 2006. The request for proposals was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on June 28, July 2 and 5, 2006.

 

The contract consists of providing all labor, materials and equipment to perform summer and winter road maintenance in the Central Region, Unit 3. This is a three-year contract with two additional one-year terms at the sole option of the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

 

The attached resolution authorizes award of contract for this work to D&L Construction.

 

The total estimated annual expense, $104,300, was submitted by the proposer. This contract is for work performed on an hourly basis and is controlled primarily by weather. The estimated amount is contingent upon the various maintenance demands of the respective unit.

 

Expenditures for the contract will be charged to account number 236.33950.46910.
