SUBJECT:     Resolution 2006-074, Authorizing Award of Contract for the Old Seward Middle School Demolition.

The Purchasing and Contracting Office solicited and opened bids for the above-referenced project on July 28, 2006. The invitation to bid was advertised in the Peninsula Clarion on July 11^th and 12^th and in the Homer News and the Seward Phoenix Log on July 13, 2006. Five bids were received and are recorded on the attached bid tabulation. The low responsive bid, including the additive alternate, of $896,200.00 was submitted by Central Environmental, Inc.

The Work consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and disposal for the demolition of the old Seward Middle School. It also includes new construction of a formal south exit for the existing high school. The additive alternate provides for topsoil and seeding of the site. Work is anticipated to be substantially complete prior to May 2007.

Funding is available in the school bond capital projects budget. Expenditures for the project will be charged to account number 401.75030.03SEW.49101.

The attached Resolution requests Award of Contract for this work to the low responsive bidder for the bid amount.
