SUBJECT:    Resolution 2006-075, approving changing the name of Central Peninsula General Hospital to Central Peninsula Hospital

This resolution is proposed at the request of the Central Peninsula General Hospital, Inc. board of directors with the support of the Central Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board. As discussed in the resolution, the scope of services provided by Central Peninsula General Hospital has significantly expanded since its inception in the late 1960s. Since May 2006 the operating board has considered renaming the hospital to reflect this change in scope and recently recommended changing it to “Central Peninsula Hospital.” The term “general” is rarely used today in hospital names, and identifying this hospital as the Central Peninsula Hospital simply reflects that it is a hospital that is located in the Central Peninsula. Your consideration of this resolution would be appreciated.
