SUBJECT: Resolution 2006-090, waiving solid waste collection fees for debris from the October 2006 flood event in the Seward area
As reflected in the attached resolution, a large amount of debris from the flood in Seward needs to be properly disposed of in order to avoid peril to the health and safety of borough residents. I have deferred payment of these fees for 30 days as authorized by Resolution 98-081. I believe the fees should be waived given the extraordinary circumstances of the flood and the need to have refuse posing health and safety issues disposed of properly and expeditiously, and request the assembly grant such waiver. The attached resolution would waive the collection fees for debris associated with the Seward flood event until November 27, 2006, in order to encourage prompt and thorough cleanup.
