Kenai Peninsula Borough
Quarterly Report of Key Economic Indicators for Period Ending September 30, 2005

Kenai Peninsula Borough Employment

Seasonality of the KPB economy is made clear by the charts above. The labor force, which includes all individuals willing and able to work whether or not they are working, generally increases each summer as college students come home for the summer and other individuals arrive seeking summer employment and adventure. As fishing, tourism and construction activity increase during summer months, seasonal job opportunities follow. Even with an increased labor force, the increase in available jobs in KPB will generally result in decreased unemployment and the subsequent lower unemployment rates.
