TRAIL GROUPS IN THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH

KENAI PENINSULA SLED DOG RACING ASSOCIATION

Purpose: Local club dedicated to mushing and racing sled dogs. The club grooms and maintains over 10 miles of trails near the Soldotna Airport for mushing.

Members also involved in skijoring (see following entry).

Projects and Activities: Winter activities start when conditions permit.

Sled dog races are held every Sunday (4,6, and 8 mile races for 4,6, and 8 dog teams).

Membership: Individual Membership -$10/year

Family membership - $15/year

(Races require a trail fee of $5 for the first race and $2 each additional race.)

Meetings: Regular monthly meetings of the general membership start in September– they’re usually held at the Good Night Inn.

Board meeting are held as needed.

Events:
  • Ty Clark Memorial Race – purse race – usually held in February.
  • PSDRA Classic Race – purse race.
  • Businessman’s Race – Fun Race – usually held at the end of February or beginning of March.
  • Special Olympics Rides Day (held toward the end of season).
