Employment in the Oil & Gas Industry includes two categories, Manufacturing activities and Extraction & Production activities. The greatest employment growth since 1980 occurred during 2000 in Extraction & Production, increasing 576 positions or 54% while manufacturing gained 16 positions or 4% for the year.

Due to implementation of NAICS, there is a break in the trend. The impact in the Oil and Gas industry is negligible but must be noted.
